Hours later, as the day was finally drawing to a close Troe and Sav finally staggered out of the bar, very happy about just about everything, especially their new friend who if they'd had one more probably would have drunk them under the table without batting an eye. Troe leaned heavily on Sav's leg as even completely drunk the quadrapedal dragon was more stable than the human.
"We never got to visit your nieces and nephews you know," said Troe, trying to focus his eyes on his tall dragon.
~We can go tomorrow!~ replied Sav happily. Together the two of them made their way back to the hotel, swaying lightly in the lift and staggering through the streets. When they got there they made their way up to their room, some of the other patrons giving them disgusted or knowing looks depending on each's view of alcohol.
Once they were back in the dubious safety of their room Troe collapsed face-down on the bed and Sav rolled over on his back, sticking his legs up in the air and watching his bond from this upside down angle. The two of them laughed about nonsense for quite some time until Troe finally pushed himself up with a frown creasing his forehead.
"I wonder what Nyera's done all day. We kind of abandoned her!" This struck Sav as highly amusing and they both laughed for quite some time before the dragon managed to reply.
~You like her a lot. I can tell! You really are an open book like I said before! Why don't you tell her?~
"I should!" said Troe, his inhibitions washed away by the fire-wine. "I'll go do that right now!"
He got up, stumbled to the adjoining door and opened the door in his room, pounding loudly on Nyera's door and promptly leaning heavily on it. "Nyera!" he yelled, his word slurring heavily. "I like you! I think you're beautiful and smart and sexy, and if I'd let myself think about it I think I'd be completely in love with you!"
There was no answer and after a few moment spent leaning on it, the alcohol finally took it's toll and Troe slid down the doorway to fall asleep up against the door.
Early the next morning Nyera opened the door and Troe fell half-way into her room. He groaned and blinked, finally settling on only slitting his eyes as he curled and attempted to sit up.
"Have a little too much fun last night?" she said dryly and leaned over him to see Sav curled up in the middle of the room. Sav blinked at her a little blearily but as she watched he stretch and stood so she nodded her head. "What did you do, lose a contest?"
Troe didn't dignify her sarcastic questions with a reply, as he again attempted to get up off the floor. His eyes didn't want to open though and he felt like his equilibrium was off because he couldn't seem to find purchase on anything!
"Fine, okay, easy does it, here we go!" said Nyera, putting her hands under his shoulders and helping hoist him to his feet. He swayed so violently once he was on his feet that Nyera ducked under one of his arms and supported him to the bed where she backed him up and promptly dropped him. He tried to pull her to the bed with him but she easily evaded his clumsy fingers. He fell back and stared at the ceiling for the few minutes it took her to come back with a glass of clear liquid. "Here, drink this, it'll help."
She helped him sit up again and he blinked at her before taking the glass and drinking it. Water it turned out to be and the crisp clean taste did help clear the fuzziness from his brain just a bit.
Nyera stifled a sigh and crossed her arms in front of her as she looked down at him. "Well, you're not going to be any help today so I guess we'll do our research tomorrow." She turned to Sav and gave the dragon a sharp look. Troe silently cursed the calm innocence that flowed through the bond at that moment since he could barely keep his thoughts straight. "Let him sleep more of it off and don't let him get drunk again tonight! I need him fully functional tomorrow!"
Without even waiting for confirmation from the dragon she stalked back to the adjoining doors, went swiftly through and slammed the door on her side. Troe winced and fell back on the bed, falling into a deep slumber.
When he woke again Sav was tickling his nose with the hair on the tip of his tail and he sneezed violently. The sneeze propelled him upright and he blinked sleepily at his dragon, brow furrowed as he tried to recall exactly what had happened.
~You got drunk so we let you sleep it off,~ replied Sav to his unspoken question.
Still frowning Troe got up and moved in the bathing area to turn on the shower. "We?"
Sav didn't answer the unspoken question, instead changing the subject entirely. ~We are going to go visit my sister today, right? Nyera wants to get straight to work tomorrow so I don't think we'll have time after today.~
Troe nodded as he got in the shower, knowing the dragon would pluck the affirmative straight from his mind even if he couldn't see the nod. Their encounter with the xeno yesterday had indirectly prevented them from going so he owed Sav the visit. Besides, if the babies were as interesting as Sav had been at that age he'd probably end up enjoying himself as well!
