It wasn't until two days later that Troe actually got ahold of his cousin and in the end it was actually Brayn who approached him. By then Troe had moved into one of the dragon-sized apartments and so he left Sav behind. The dragon didn't seem to mind missing out on the meeting and Troe tried not to wonder what the devious dragonet had going on. At any rate Sav seemed pleased to let him go visit his cousin on his lunchbreak instead of returning home to visit the pup as he would regularly have done.
Troe and Brayn got together on their lunch breaks and Troe noted that Brayn seemed much more relaxed than the last time they'd seen each other.
"I am more relaxed. I've got a lot less stress in my life now!" said Brayn with a smile. "Nyera and I broke up. It was completely mutual and on good terms and all that, so don't worry about it. Just thought you should know since you're working with her and all."
For a moment Troe had a hard time coming up with a response as his cousin's news had completely floored him. Suddenly Nyera's behavior on their trip made so much more sense. She'd broken up with his cousin so she wasn't sure if they could still be friends. "You sure you're okay? I mean how mutual was it?"
"I think she'd been thinking about it for a while and she's the one who actually initiated the discussion but we were pretty miserable. I'd stopped really thinking of her as a girlfriend at least a month back, I just hadn't really noticed the change." Brayn smiled at his cousin's worried look. "Relax, I'm fine! I'm living it up! Doing all those things I haven't been allowed to do for the past four years, it's great! Plus Nyera and I are still friends."
"Alright then, well, good for you I guess! Gotta kinda suck to be single again though." Troe himself had been single for far too long and had been looking for the right girl but unable to find her. He had thought his cousin had found the right girl so this news was a shock and not really something he understood. He decided he wouldn't mention anything to Nyera.
Brayn just laughed and shook his head at Troe's comment and the two of them moved on to other topics. Troe's mind kept circling back though, uncertain that the break-up could possibly have gone so well.
